For those with Vortech pumps, you can modify schedules to provide multiple wave motion settings and intensities without physically adjusting the drivers.

Ecotech Marine Radion Gen 3 Pro Schedule
I was looking back to 2014 when I was last seeing the best SPS color and growth results but I didn't have a record of the schedule I was running. Now that I have the light dialed in again its time to document for next time.
1 Ecotech Radion Gen 3 Pro, 8" above the water surface. Tank is 20" deep, and 24" wide with a total water volume of roughly 37 gallons in the display area.
Radiant Color pre-set at 60% max intensity extended to start at 10:00 AM and end the day at 9:00 PM with a 3 hour moon light period ending at midnight.
